Editor's Verdict:

Sugardaddie.com  calls itself, "an independent successful dating site dedicated to matching successful men and attractive women."  Their name expresses their primary focus: Sugar Daddies (i.e. affluent men willing to assist appealing young women in a mutually beneficial arrangement), and the women who wish to participate in this lifestyle. They were one of the first in this sub-category of wealthy dating with fair claim to the top spot. So, how do they measure against the leaders in the wealthy dating category overall?

Our first impressions were positive.   Sugardaddie makes no pretensions of who they serve.  The site represents a pool of individuals who share a like-minded interest.  They offer a chance to put together a relationship of choice, based on the mutual understanding of both parties.  Their popularity online can rival the biggest and best in the wealthy dating category as a whole. That's a considerable achievement when you primarily represent a sub-group.  They outperform their competition in a number of key ways.

This site itself is a beautifully stylish, slick, contemporary production, with a clean, spacious layout.  This ultra-modern look is the benchmark image of the 'arrangement dating' sub-category, and gives this niche a stylish identity of its own.  (Other sites in this sub-category starting up after Sugardaddie seem to have copied this look).  The physical layout works well and it's easy to navigate without surprises.  

Sign-up is very easy. You can start out as a Standard (free) member or opt for a Premium membership. The major benefits of the upgrade is being able to fully access e-mail across the site, getting to view the members full profiles, and posting  your views on the Forums.

Creating your profile is typically tedious but not problematic.   Once it's posted, you're informed that it's 'pending approval'.  Sugardaddie employs a rigorous profile approval routine.  Their standards are high and fairly rigid.  We surmise that they are determined to maintain their 'arrangement' identity, (by preventing it from morphing into a less specialized dating site).  They do this by managing the site's database, (membership roles) declining  those profiles which don't adequately fit their image. They also carefully scrutinize members photos, rejecting those that fail to meet standards.  This practice is somewhat responsible for them maintaining their status and position as leaders in this niche dating area. 

Dating sites of all types are reliant on a good search engine and a sizable enough membership database to facilitate a good number of suitable matches in one's locale.  Sugardaddie's search engine works well. The search criteria are good and will sort most of the parameters considered important (see search section for details). One option that we would like to see added, is the ability to narrow the search to a postal  code or within a certain distance.  The way the site currently narrows location is limited to a state (in the US) or region in the other six countries served by SugarDaddie (i.e. Canada, Switzerland, Australia,  Netherlands, UK and Germany).  While a search by region in the UK  or The Netherlands might be narrow enough, we feel it's not  going to work well for someone living in California, Australia (with huge territories) and Canada's western provinces.   This flaw might warrant a revision.

When performing a typical search, we are presented with lots of beautiful young women.  Photos are usually head and torso.  Some members' photos had a stretched or compressed appearance (due to a technical issue), which didn't occur when enlarged. Photos are high quality and when clicked on, enlarge to a generous size - very nice.  Other info. on the listing gives location (country and region), age, and a partial statement of their introduction. Clicking on the search results brings up a member's partial profile, the enlarged photo and two companion photos.  The layout here is very nice with a simple, intuitive logic.  We found the search engine nice and user-friendly.  Compared to its rivals, it has one of the best approaches when it comes to providing quality information which will be crucial for members who are in the early stages of exploration.  We just wish a narrowing of location was offered.

SugarDaddies offers a useful Block member feature to secure members from unwanted contact with selected members.  It 's a good safety feature. One which we think should be standard on all dating sites.

Contacting prospective members is done solely by e-mail. You'll need to be a Premium member to access full e-mail.  There is no chat room here or IM offered.  While these omissions would be unthinkable on a conventional wealthy dating site,  here it makes sense considering the nature of Sugardaddie's approach.   Those methods of  'getting in touch'  really don't offer a significant benefit when the lifestyle of Sugar daddies is considered.   Also,  'flirts'  like kisses and hugs aren't available  for the same reasons as mentioned previously.  Once again, Sugardaddie.com is a different type of  site with an agenda that focuses on maintaining their identity to better serve their primary clientele,  SugarDaddies and SugarBabes!

So how does Sugardaddie stack up against the others in wealthy dating?  Very well, when you consider they maintain the integrity of their focus. They're not interested in being all things to all members of  wealthy dating sites. They specialize, and they're formidable competition for others in the 'arrangements' niche.   They also challenge in the general wealthy dating category in some important areas

Sugardaddie is beautifully functional and easy to use.  Its no frills approach is a winner. The only revision we would suggest  is narrowing the search location by distance.  The quaility of the site makes it fine value at any level of  Premium membership.  The pricing is comparatively low, (you're not paying for rarely used features), and the quality of what you do need and get here is first class.  Another  factor which you may like is the fact that they don't auto rebill your credit card unless you specifically request it. Sugardaddie seems to be setting a standard in simplicity, packaging and being true to themselves in a changing category. From what we've seen, Sugardaddie's claim to be a place, "Where the classy, attractive and affluent can meet," seems to ring true.
